FAQ

PACKAGES

Q: What are your most popular packages?

A: Our “Intimate” and “Creative” packages are the most popular with our clients.

Q: Is it possible to create our own custom package?

A: Yes! We love creating custom packages with our clientele. Please inquire - we are very happy to help you.

CEREMONies

Q: What kinds of ceremonies does Alohilani Weddings perform?

A: Our ceremonies often combine Hawaiian elements such as a lei exchange with references to the beauty of nature and the joy of a loving marriage. We work with each couple individually to include any special requests.

Q: Is there a difference between a wedding and an elopement package?

A: No, there is no difference. If you are celebrating a vow renewal, then the verbiage will be different.

Q: Do you perform sand ceremonies?

A: Yes. If you elect to work with Aunty Tutu (our favorite officiant here on the Big Island), a Sand Ceremony will be included as part of your ceremony.

LOCATIONs

Q: What islands do you operate on?

A: We are based on the Big Island of Hawaii and Oahu but service weddings on all of the major Hawaiian Islands. We are happy to travel to another island if requested (Note: clients will be responsible for the travel costs incurred by Alohilani Weddings outside of Oahu and the Big Island of Hawaii).

Q: How do we choose a location?

A: Our gallery features the most popular locations for our ceremonies. We can assist in choosing a location - whether it is a beach or park or waterfall. Or, if you already have a place in mind, Alohilani Weddings can help secure it.

Q: What is the best time of the day for my wedding?

A: We recommend scheduling your wedding later in the day, usually 2 hours before sunset or early in the morning typically starting at 8:30 or 9:00am. Scheduling your wedding during these times will ensure you have the prettiest light for your photos. We do not recommend having your wedding during the middle of the day because of the high mid-day temperatures.

Floral Design & Decor

Q: What kinds of floral designs can you provide?

A: Depending upon the package you select we can go from very simple to very sophisticated. We typically prefer to keep our designs simple but are open to working with you to create your dream floral designs.

Q: Can we choose what kinds of flowers we want for our wedding?

A: Yes, this is possible depending upon the package you select, your budget, and the time of the year of your wedding. We prefer to get our flowers on-island to support our local farmers.

Q: What kind of decor is available for our wedding?

A: We have a variety of decor items which you can select from our design inventory depending upon the package your select. Please inquire for details.

Q: Can we have a bouquet instead of leis?

A: The leis are a part of a traditional Hawaiian wedding and are included in all of our packages. However, you can add a bridal bouquet for an additional cost (prices vary based on type of flowers and their availability).

weather

Q: What time of the year is the best for my wedding in terms of weather?

A: Because we are in Hawaii there are truly no “best time of the year” or wedding season. There are a few things to keep in mind though. First, temperatures are slightly cooler in the winter months (November - January), warmer during the summer months (June - August), and humid during the fall months (September - October).

Q: What happens if it rains on my wedding day?

A: Here on the west side of the Big Island rain is actually quite rare at the venues we love to work at. This is not to say it never rains, but If it does rain, there are a couple of options that we have employed in the past that have worked very well.

PERMITS & MARRIAGE LICENSES

Q: Can you help us with our marriage license?

A: Yes! We will provide the contact information for you.

Q: What kinds of ceremonies does Alohilani Weddings Hawaii perform?

A: Our ceremonies often combine Hawaiian elements such as a lei exchange with references to the beauty of nature and the joy of a loving marriage. We work with each couple individually to include any special requests.

Q: Will we need a permit to have our wedding at certain venues?

A: Yes you do. Our team will take care of all permits for you.

Q: How does the Hawaii marriage license and application process work?

A: There is no waiting period, no residency requirement and no blood tests are required.

A valid picture ID is all that is required for U.S citizens and non-U.S citizens. (State issued Driver's License or Passport.) Foreigners can be married in Hawaii with a passport or Visa. There is a small state fee paid directly to the agent or you can now pay the State of Hawaii on-line for the marriage application. The license is good for thirty days after issue by the marriage license agent.

Q: We are coming from a foreign country, how does the marriage license process for foreign clients?

A: Foreigners can be married in Hawaii with a passport or Visa.

Q: Is there a limit to the number of guests we can have?

A: Yes, because we are a small, boutique sized company, we prefer to work with smaller groups. The typical size of the weddings we work on has a guest count between 2 - 15. We have worked on larger weddings with guest counts between 40 - 60 but this is rare.

Q: Are you LGBT friendly?

A: Yes!
